What is Task Order?
Task Order
A task order is a specific, funded order of work issued under an umbrella indefinite-delivery contract (an IDIQ). The umbrella sets terms, ceilings, and labor categories; each task order defines the actual scope, period of performance, and funding for one job. A single IDIQ can spawn many task orders across years and locations.
Day-to-day execution happens at the task-order level — its PWS, its CDRLs, its CLINs, its metrics. FORGE is, by design, organized around the task order.
In FORGEFORGE structures operations, data deliverables, and cost tracking around each task order rather than the parent contract.
Common questions
The contract (often an IDIQ) is the umbrella vehicle with terms and ceilings; a task order is one funded job placed under it, with its own scope, schedule, and money.
