MTTR is the average time to restore a failed item to service, from fault detection through repair and verification. It's a maintainability metric: lower MTTR means faster recovery and higher availability. MTTR exposes parts-availability and labor bottlenecks.
MTTR is tracked against AQLs on maintenance contracts and is sensitive to spares positioning and technician coverage.
